Village of Middleburgh voters will decide Tuesday whether to dissolve their village.
Polls at the town hall will be open from noon to PM.
The vote is the result of a petition for dissolution filed by former mayor Gary Hayes in the fall.
Mr. Hayes believes having the Town of Middleburgh take over village duties would be more efficient and cost-effective.
Examples drawn by village officials indicate that in some cases, taxes for village residents would decrease. Taxes for town residents, however, would increase as the town assumes village services, according to the examples.
Although dissolution would affect town residents, only village residents may vote in Tuesday's election.
The proposition on the ballot reads:
"Should the Village of Middleburgh be dissolved?" Voters have a choice of "yes" or "no."
