Duo leaves string of hot cars on way to Wal-Mart

A string of car thefts and burglaries that stretched from Worcester to the Cobleskill Wal-Mart Thursday resulted in an equally long string of charges against 42-year-old James Livingston of Summit from four different law enforcement agencies in two counties.
A 14-year-old juvenile was also charged in the incident.
According to the Schoharie County Sheriff's Department, Mr. Livingston and the youth stole the first car not far from his Truax Road, Summit home, driving it till it was involved in an accident before abandoning it.
They then found a second car on Brooker Hollow Road in Worcester, Otsego County, driving it until it was involved in a second accident on Brooker Hollow Road after it crosses into Richmondville, Schoharie County.
From there, police said, the two found a third vehicle, also in Richmondville, and drove it to Wal-Mart, where they were arrested attempting to shoplift.
The Cobleskill Police Department charged Mr. Livingston with criminal possession of stolen property fourth-degree, attempted petit larceny, and endangering the welfare of a child.
The Schoharie County Sheriff's Department arrested him for grand larceny fourth-degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
The State Police charged him with two counts of burglary third-degree, grand larceny third-degree, and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The 14-year-old was charged with criminal possession of stolen property fourth-degree by the Cobleskill Police Department and grand larceny fourth-degree by the Schoharie County Sheriff's Department.
Both agencies issued him a juvenile appearance ticket to appear at Schoharie County Probation at a later date.
Otsego County Sheriff's Department charges against the two are still pending.
Mr. Livingston was arraigned and sent to jail on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.
