Middleburgh school voters reject budget; rest pass easily

Middleburgh Central School voters went against trend Tuesday to defeat their $20.2 million budget, 374-399.
They also rejected a bus purchase proposition, 357-414, and elected Michael Fisher and Donald Wood, with 473 and 417 votes respectively, to the school board.
Michael Parker, with 411 votes, came in third in the race.
Elsewhere, budgets were easily approved.

Cobleskill-Richmondville
C-R voters approved their $36.6 million budget, 758-424.
They also elected Mary Black and Jeff Foote to two school board seats.
Ms. Black polled 687 votes, Mr. Foote, 672, and third-place finisher Susan Emerson Strasser, 648.
The Community Library budget passed, 752-411.

Schoharie
Schoharie voters approved a $21 million budget, 334-211.
They also approved a $813,000 building project for improvements to the bus garage, 307-227, and a bus purchase proposition, 325-215.
Elected to three seats on the school board were Terry Burton, 416 votes, Marion Jaqueway, 408 votes, and Daniel Guasp, 344 votes.

Sharon Springs
In Sharon, voters approved an $8.7 million budget, 202-56, and re-elected Laura Jackson to the school board.
Ms. Jackson polled 191 votes; Steven Bade, who also ran, polled 62.
Voters approved a bus purchase proposition, 181-76.

Worcester
In Worcester, voters approved their $10.6 million budget, 162-122.
They also elected Peter Kwiatkowski to the school board with 159 votes. Michelle Empie, who also ran, polled 121 votes.

Jefferson
In Jefferson, voters approved their $6.1 million budget, 140-62, and a bus purchase, 133-66.
In the school board race there, David Lapinel and Michael Jonker were elected to the school board with 133 and 138 votes respectively.
Heath Pitcher received 63 votes.

Gilboa-Conesville
Gilboa-Conesville voters approved their $9.8 million budget, 115-37, and elected Michael Fleischman to the school board with 110 votes.
