5/28/2013

A Jefferson firefighter was arrested last Tuesday after the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office said he deliberately burned his fire gear while standing in a fire pit.
Deputies said Christopher Botha, 23, of Jefferson, was charged with two counts of criminal mischief third degree and one count of criminal mischief fourth degree.
Deputies said he burned boots, coats, and pants owned by the Jefferson Fire Department while standing in the fire pit and then talked about it at a training session.
Mr. Botha will reappear in Town of Jefferson Court on June 3 and was released in his own recognizance.
