Doug Plummer new Sharon mayor; MCS voters OK budget

Doug Plummer and yes.
That's the result of voting in the Village of Sharon Springs and the Middleburgh Central School District Tuesday.
In Sharon Springs, Trustee and Deputy Mayor Doug Plummer defeated challenger Dennis Tobin, 71-54, in the first mayor's race in years.
One hundred twenty-four voters turned out; election inspectors said there are 271 registered voters in the village.
In trustees' races, Denise Kelly won re-election to her own seat with 114 votes.
Jim Navilio was also re-elected with 92 votes and Jeff White joins the board with 82 votes.
Michael Wolfe, running for the first time, got 44 votes.
In Middleburgh, school voters approved a revised and slightly lower budget, 592-414,
after turning down their original spending plan in May,
The $20 million budget will increase the tax levy by 2.68 percent.
The defeated budget would have increased the levy by 3.9 percent.
