Caz Girls Conquer 365 Random Acts of Kindness hopes a BBQ Saturday at Noble Ace Hardware will give its Greater Acts of Kindness a shot in the arm.
Billed as Cooking for Kindness, the event will run from 11:30am till sold out.
Barbecue Delights Catering from Schoharie is handling the catering with other food sponsors including Justine's, Wolfe's Pizza, and Coccadotts Bakery.
Both meals, with potatoes, slaw, and a roll, and chicken halves will be sold
Advance sale tickets are available-but not necessary--by calling 231-1473 or by emailing Cazkindness365@gmail.com.
In addition to food, there will be raffles for items donated by sponsors Grapevine Farms, Coccadotts Bakery, The Hair Artist, Marriott of Albany, Villa Italia, and Price Chopper.
You don't have to be present to win and the event will be held rain or shine.
Caz Girls RAK kicked off this spring after a group of Cazenovia College friends, including Trista (Porn) Bradt of Cobleskill made a New Year's pact to do something kind for everyone every day for the next year.
Their RAKs include everything from buying strangers coffee to leaving lottery tickets behind in shopping carts; Cooking for Kindness will help fund their Greater Acts, which is a larger scale effort to support someone going through an especially difficult time, often dealing with an illness or medical emergency.
Ms. Bradt said Saturday's BBQ will go to help someone from Cobleskill whose medical expenses exceeds his income.
They're also hoping to put something aside toward the $800 cost of filing as a non-profit.
Also as part of Saturday's event, Jack Pryor, a Radez Elementary student involved in TREP$ will sell his lemonade with proceeds benefiting GAK and anyone bringing a new or a nearly new children's book as a donation will receive a free raffle ticket.
"The support has been incredible," Ms. Bradt said. "It's spreading like crazy. It's amazing how many people have reached out to us to get involved."
