Schoharie County's 4th as "American as Apple Pie"

7/3/2013

Schoharie County will be dressed in red, white and blue at its July 4 celebration this Thursday.
The theme is "American as Apple Pie," and the day will live up to the theme with a pie-baking contest.
Organized by volunteer groups Cobleskill Partnership Inc. and Friends of the Fourth, the celebration gets under way at 2pm with rides and activities at the Fairgrounds.
Food, crafts, karaoke, music and dance will be at the Fairgrounds. Other activities include a bungee run, dunk tank and water slide.
The Studio Fab dancers will perform at 3:30.
For the apple pie baking contest, entrants should bring pies to the Fairgrounds between 2 and 4pm. Judging will be at 4.
Danielle Easton of the Pampered Chef is organizing the pie contest. Prizes will come from the Pampered Chef, The Studio for Art and Craft and Coby's.
A parade will march down Main Street and South Grand to the Fairgrounds at 5pm. Fireworks will touch off at dark.
Groups helping out include Cheerdome, the Cobleskill-Richmondville girls' varsity soccer team, scouts and others.
The celebration is a volunteer effort, and donations will go towards paying for the fireworks.
Volunteers will seek donations from those watching fireworks around the village.
Anyone who wants to be in the parade should call Maggie Pryor at 213-2076. To volunteer at the Fairgrounds, call Jacqui Hauser at 296-8122.
