Carolina woman arrested here on ID charges

A South Carolina woman was arrested last week after getting identification cards for herself under false and fictitious children.
The Cobleskill State Police arrested Eleanor Black of Myrtle Beach last Monday on 20 felony charges.
Ms. Black was arrested after a lengthy investigation which revealed that she allegedly made up forged IDS with several different identities and also received birth certificates and social security cards for fictitious children, according to a State Police investigator. Ms. Black, he added, had registered at SUNY Cobleskill under several different names.
She was charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony; seven counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a Class D felony; six counts of first-degree falsifying business records, a Class E felony; and six counts of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a Class E felony, according to police.
The charges are a result of a lengthy investigation by the State Police that began in September 2012.
The crimes, according to police, were committed in various jurisdictions throughout the Schoharie Valley region.
She was arraigned and is to return to the Town of Esperance court at a later date.
The case is expected to be sent to a county grand jury, according to police.
