A Summit man who was wanted in a driving while intoxicated fatal motorcycle accident in Florida nearly two years ago, was arrested in Richmondville Saturday.
David W. Jackson, 57, of Eminence Road was spotted at a gas station in Richmondville by a person who was aware of the pending case in Florida, according to the Cobleskill State Police.
The person, who was familiar with Mr. Jackson, contacted the State Police, and a county-wide notice was dispatched to all police agencies for Mr. Jackson and his vehicle.
A Trooper on patrol pulled Mr. Jackson over on Lang Road in the Town of Summit, police added.
A further investigation by police determined that Mr. Jackson possessed three long guns in his home which he was prohibited from legally possessing due to a prior conviction, police said. Also recovered with the firearms was a small quantity of marijuana.
Mr. Jackson was charged with being a fugitive from justice, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
He was arraigned in the Town of Summit court and sent to jail without bail pending a further court date, police added.
Mr. Jackson was wanted on charges of DUI manslaughter in connection with a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in Lakeland, Florida in November 2011.
