Plenty changes for Village of Cobleskill

The Cobleskill Village Board had a nearly complete turnover Monday night.
Clerk Sheila Hay-Gillespie swore in new Mayor Linda Holmes and new trustees Tim Snyder, Kathy Johnson and Nancy Getman for a fresh start for village government.
The swearing-in and appointments to positions came at Cobleskill's annual organizational meeting.
On the board, Guy Burt is the only incumbent trustee. Mayor Holmes was a trustee who successfully ran against Mark Galasso last month.
Trustees Snyder and Johnson also won election, while Mayor Holmes appointed Ms. Getman as trustee to take her vacated seat.
Mr. Burt will run next year, as will Ms. Getman, because she's completing Ms. Holmes' unexpired term.
Mayor Holmes noted the turnover.
"I'm very honored to represent the community," she said. "We have many new people. Only Guy and myself are holdovers."
One of her thrusts is to get more people involved, both on village committees and boards and also at meetings.
To that end, Mayor Holmes is holding a community meeting December 16, 6-9pm at Teen Town, so the public can meet new officials.
The meeting will be the first of several.
"The first one will be more of a meet and greet," Mayor Holmes said.
Later community meetings will encourage public input about village issues.
"It will be a sharing of ideas," Mayor Holmes said. "What we want is a gambit of ideas. It's not airing dirty laundry. It's meant to be positive."
Mayor Holmes designated the following committees:
•Finance Committee, Mayor Holmes and Ms. Johnson.
•Personnel, Ms. Getman and Mr. Snyder.
•Public Works, Mayor Holmes and Mr. Burt.
