The Town and Village of Richmondville will continue to explore grants to build a joint municipal building.
Town board members on Thursday heard Shane Nickle of the Schoharie County Planning and Development Agency outline possibilities for funding.
The town and village last year applied for a grant for the building but didn't get it.
Mr. Nickle said two grant sources are the state Department of State and the US Department of Agriculture.
DOS may want to see a study done, Mr. Nickle added, though grants of up to $50,000 are available for a study.
"Something about shared services, the space and the size of the building," Mr. Nickle said of the study.
With an office in Schoharie, the USDA "is easy to work with. They're very helpful. . .The Town of Seward got a grant from them," Mr. Nickle said.
Richmondville town and village have a subcommittee to discuss a shared building, and Mr. Nickle was to meet with them Tuesday morning to update where the two municipalities stand.
Town Supervisor Dick Lape said Richmondville officials could meet with DOS and USDA reps in April.
