Get ready to run Sharon's Run 4 the Hills

4/30/2014

What goes up must come down and there will be plenty of both Saturday in Sharon Springs at the first running of the four-mile Run 4 the Hills.
The race is a challenging walk-run organized as a benefit for the Sharon Springs Fire Department by local businessman and runner Garth Roberts.
Registration is being capped at 150 runners and as of Wednesday, there were still a few spots left.
Packet pickup will take place at the American Hotel-both the starting and the finish line-from 3-5pm Friday or from 7:30-8:30am Saturday.
Race time is 9am; a post-race party at the American will include a random drawing of donated prizes for registered runners and there will be music by DJ Tony Manusco of Platinum Entertainment, along with refreshments.
The first male and female runner and the first walker back will win a pair of New Balance sneakers.
Sharon Springs Mayor Doug Plummer, who's also running, will sound the bullhorn to kick off the race, and dozens of volunteers from local community organizations will be on hand to help.
Mr. Roberts was inspired to create the run by last year's Boston Marathon; his plans call for choosing a different fire department or rescue squad as a beneficiary each year.
"Most of all, it's intended to be fun," he said.
