No problems at C-R field day; cops there just in case

Already occupied with one presumed threat at Cobleskill-Richmondville's middle school, Cobleskill Police and school officials are faced with another.
A list of 25 students' names was found last Wednesday in a Golding School classroom, with a sentence saying they would be hurt at the annual field day yesterday.
Field day, however, went off without a hitch.
The second list follows another threat from the week before. Then, there was talk in school and on social media about another list of students who would be harmed at the annual dance June 13. No list or evidence of one was found, though school administrators cancelled the dance for safety's sake.
When the second list surfaced, school officials alerted the parents of the 25 students, and administrators and police refocused their efforts.
"It's hard to tell if it's a different person [who started it], a copy cat, or they're intertwined," Superintendent Lynn Macan said.
"We're just continuing to talk to kids. It's hard to nail down this stuff."
Police Chief Rich Bialkowski agreed, adding that officers have interviewed students and checked school computers.
"And we're trying to see if there's any pattern to the names or why they're on the list," Chief Bialkowski said.
He's had officers at Golding at the start and end of each school day and also on the grounds occasionally during school.
With little evidence indicating there would be violence, school officials went ahead with field day Tuesday morning.
Police officers were at Golding School when students arrived and stayed to observe field day.
"It was a proactive, preventive step," Dr. Macan said.
