Offer of help leads to arrest by Troopers

State police who intending to help a man with a disabled car arrested him on drug charges instead.
Around midnight on July 14, troopers from the Cobleskill station stopped to help Joshua Wansor of Vestal, whose car broke down at the intersection of Route 145 and Mineral Springs Road in Cobleskill.
Approaching Mr. Wansor, troopers smelled a strong aroma of marijuana from the car. He told State Police he was returning from a music festival in Saugerties when his car broke down.
They searched the car and discovered two bricks of hash, plastic bags containing marijuana, and lollipops with THC, the key ingredient in marijuana. Troopers also found a small digital scale.
State police said the marijuana weighed 2.2 ounces, there were 14 dosage units of hash and an additional 2.1 ounces of hash.
Troopers charged Mr. Wansor, 28, with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
Mr. Wansor was arraigned and remanded to the Schoharie County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, $5,000 bond. No court return date was reported.
