Charlotteville teen charged in May fatal

A Charlotteville teenager has been charged on eight counts in the May 16 accident in South Worcester which claimed the life of a 16-year-old.
Paul Joseph Clark Jr., 18, of Charlotteville was allegedly impaired by drugs when he was speeding and recklessly operating a 2000 Saturn when it crashed into a parked Federal Express truck on Otsego County Route 40, according to the Otsego County Sheriff's office. Mr. Clark was charged last week with four felonies, two misdemeanors and two traffic infractions.
Devin D. McMahon, 16, of Charlotteville, a front-seat passenger in the car driven by Mr. Clark, was killed in the accident. Mr. McMahon was a sophomore at Charlotte Valley Central School.
Two of the other passengers, both juveniles, were also injured in the accident and were taken to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. One passenger, Maureen Clark, was seriously injured, police said.
Mr. Clark was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, first-degree vehicular assault and criminally negligent homicide, all felonies, and driving while ability impaired by drugs, reckless driving, speeding, and improper passing, according to police.
Mr. Clark, who faces up to 25 years in state prison if convicted on the charge of aggravated vehicular homicide, was arraigned in the Worcester town court and posted a $10,000 bond.
District Attorney John M. Muehl is prosecuting the case.
