SCOPE organizing for gun rights Friday in Carlisle

9/9/2014

A meeting to organize a Schoharie County chapter of SCOPE-Shooters Committee on Political Education-will be held this Friday, 7pm, at the Carlisle Town Hall on Crommie Road.
With 16 chapters already throughout New York State, SCOPE is dedicated to monitoring state and local governments for gun legislation, supporting Second Amendment politicians and legislation, and speaking out against anti-gun efforts, especially the SAFE Act.
The group, founded in 1965, also emphasizes the importance of registering to vote in order to elect representatives who support gun owners' voices.
Membership includes concerned gun owners and conservation clubs.
Speakers Friday will include:
--Chemung County Sheriff Chris Moss, who's running on the November's GOP ticket as Gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino's lieutenant governor.
--Assemblyman Pete Lopez.
--Schoharie County Sheriff Tony Desmond.
--Melody Burns of The Voice of Freedom.
--Carlisle Supervisor Larry Bradt and Councilman Kevin Sisson.
