SUNY picks new president for Cobleskill

Marion Terenzio, vice president for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Bloomfield College in New Jersey, has been picked as SUNY Cobleskill's next president.
Dr. Terenzio will take over from Debra Thatcher, who's served as SUNY Cobleskill's acting president for the past 18 months, effective July 1.
SUNY's Board of Trustees approved the appointment last Tuesday.
Dr. Terenzio will arrive at SUNY Cobleskill with significant experience in academic affairs and campus life.
She has been at Bloomfield College for the past 10 years and prior to that was at the Albany area's The Sage Colleges for 26 years, working as an associate professor in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, professor in the Department of Psychology, and as vice president for Campus Life.
Dr. Terenzio received a bachelor's degree in music from Vassar College, a master's degree in music therapy from Michigan State University, a second master's degree in Community Psychology from the Sage Graduate School of The Sage Colleges, and a PhD in Ecological and Community Psychology from Michigan State University.
She has received numerous awards for her community work.
"Throughout her career, Dr. Terenzio has emphasized the critical role that higher education can and must play as part of the larger community and as an economic driver, making her ideally suited to join the SUNY leadership team," said SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher in making the announcement.
"We are delighted to welcome her back to upstate New York as president of SUNY Cobleskill."
Dr. Terenzio said she looks forward to being part of SUNY Cobleskill.
"I know that Cobleskill's unique contribution within SUNY will grow in concert with the Chancellor's vision," she said. "It will be the power of SUNY Cobleskill style."
Even as she welcomed Dr. Terenzio to SUNY Cobleskill, Olive Scott, chair Cobleskill's College Council, thanked Dr. Thatcher for her leadership and tireless efforts to move the college forward during the past 18 months.
"This is not an easy task for an acting president," Dr. Scott said. "Thank you, Deb, for your enthusiasm for SUNY Cobleskill and for what you have been able to accomplish in a short time. An awesome task well done."
