Kinder-Morgan slates pipeline open houses

Kinder-Morgan, the latest pipeline company eyeing a route through Schoharie County, will explain its proposed North East Direct (NED) project at a half-dozen open houses beginning April 6 in Schoharie.
All open houses are 6-8pm.
Kinder-Morgan is seeking FERC approval to build a high-pressure natural gas pipeline from northern Pennsylvania, to the Wright compressor station, and then on to Dracut, Massachusetts.
The pipeline's 296-mile route would largely mirror that of Constitution Pipeline, impacting many of the same landowners.
Kinder-Morgan operates the existing Tennessee Gas pipeline which runs alongside Route 20, Carlisle, and in a largely symbolic move, supervisors in September went on record expressing concerns and opposition to the possibility of a third pipeline here.
Kinder-Morgan isn't expected to begin the permitting process until the fall at the earliest; the open houses are part of that process.
Open houses aren't public hearings, but will feature displays with Kinder-Morgan representatives on hand to answer questions one-on-one.
