Special Olympics, ARC join forces; meeting in Schoharie Monday

Special Olympics New York is joining forces with Schoharie County ARC to provide athletics and wellness opportunities to people in Schoharie County and the surrounding area, including people served by the Schoharie County ARC.
Through specialized sports training and competition, participating athletes develop confidence in themselves, obtain a higher level of physical fitness and develop lifelong friendships.
With the help of many volunteer coaches, Special Olympics NY trains in over 20 sports including: Basketball, volleyball, floor hockey, softball, track and field events, bocce, aquatics, power-lifting and equestrian events.
The mission of the Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and competitions for children with intellectual or physical disabilities.
The Schoharie County ARC will host an informational meeting for athletes and volunteers at 10am on Monday, April 6 at the Schoharie County ARC TPI Conference Center.
Those attending are encouraged to RSVP to Mike Houghton, Special Olympics coach, at 673-5235.
