It will be a busy summer at Middleburgh Central School.
Middleburgh will be hosting the regional summer school this year for high school students, as well as the summer learning academy for elementary students.
The summer school has been rotated around the region the last few years. Participating schools include Middleburgh, Schoharie, Berne-Knox, Cobleskill-Richmondville, and Sharon Springs for students in grades seven through 12.
There will be 10 to 12 classes offered with 15 to 25 students in each class. The program is run through BOCES.
The summer school will be run as a recovery model in which students who failed a course can recover the credits by passing the summer course.
It is not known what the cost will be per student. It may be about $260 per class.
The program is run from July 6 to August 13, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 to 11:45am.
In addition to the summer school, MCS will also be offering driver's education for the sixth year as well as health.
Middleburgh's summer learning academy for elementary school students will also return this year.
The program is open to students in grades kindergarten through sixth and will run at the same time as the summer school. Transportation is offered for the summer learning academy and officials are hoping to be able to offer transportation to some students in the summer school as well.
The six-week summer learning academy may be broken up into two three-week modules concentrating on different areas.
The students in the summer learning academy are recommended by their teachers or parents.
