No one running for SSCS board seat

No one is running for the single open seat on the Sharon Springs Central School Board of education-leaving the slot open for a write-in winner.
Hopefully.
Business Manager Tony DiPace said Monday that no one had submitted a petition for the five-year seat held by Kevin Kutzscher by the April 20 deadline; Mr. Kutzscher was appointed to the post last June after board member Paul Larkin's death.
That opens the door to a write-in campaign.
"We always get write-ins. Mickey Mouse, George Bush, Bill Clinton," Mr. DiPace said. "We've even had write-in candidates win. But they've never been the only candidate."
Anyone writing in a candidate for the May 19 election needs to be sure the name is spelled correctly, Mr. DiPace said, though in the end, determining whether a spelling is acceptable will come down to the vote's tellers and will likely hinge on intent.
Also on the 19th, voters will be deciding on the $9.2 million budget approved by the SSCS board last Monday.
