Time to mark Memorial Day

SCHOHARIE
The Schoharie American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Day parade will step off at 6:30pm Thursday, with line-up beginning at 5:30pm at Depot Lane.
Grand marshal will be the Schoharie Valley Lodge #491 of Free & Accepted Masons.
A short ceremony will follow the parade at Veteran's Park, located at the corner of Main and Spring Streets.
Parade participants can still sign up as late as today, Wednesday, by contacting Nancy Wolfe at 295-7231.

COBLESKILL
For the first time in several years, Cobleskill's Memorial Day celebration will include a parade.
The 10am march will be led by the American Legion Riders followed by World War II veterans and more.
Two horses with a veteran's helmet, boots, and rifle, representing all vets, will end the parade.
Ceremonies at 11am will follow in Centre Park
Any veterans interested in participating can contact Dawn Thompson, president of the Fred Stilson American Legion Auxiliary, 234-2539.

SHARON
In Sharon, the Memorial Day parade lineup will start at 10:30am Monday at the school.
Marchers will step off at 11am; the Sharon Springs Central School band, under the direction of Ron Letteron, will provide music.
As in previous years, floats and motorized vehicles-except for those transporting disabled veterans-are discouraged.
Following the parade, ceremonies at the monument in front of the school will feature speaker retired Lieutenant Commander Frank Masterson, Jr., Medical Service Corps, United States Navy, and adjutant of Sharon Springs American Legion Post 1269.
A commemorative bronze plaque honoring the five militiamen who died at the Battle of Sharon on July 10, 1781 was dedicated at last year's Memorial Day services.
The plaque has now been mounted on a stone from the actual battlefield and will be on display Monday before being moved to Bowmakers Pond for permanent display.
Pavers honoring local servicemen and women at the front of the monument remain available for purchase; efforts continue to erect a granite podium at the site.
A Brooks' chicken BBQ by the SSCS Class of 2018 will follow ceremonies at the school.

MIDDLEBURGH
Memorial Day services will be conducted at Memorial Park, Main Street, Middleburgh, Monday at 4pm.
The event is hosted by Rotary, VFW, American Legion Timothy Murphy Post 248, and the VFW Auxiliary.
A tradition at the ceremony is the reading of the "Gettysburg Address," and the guest speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Hedges, NYS Air National Guard.
Local Boy, Girl, and Cub Scout groups will also take part and third graders from Vicky Horez's class at Middleburgh Elementary will perform patriotic songs.
Following the services, Timothy Murphy Post 248 members will conduct a "Placing of the Wreath" ceremony.

CENTRAL BRIDGE AND ESPERANCE
Central Bridge will host a parade at 11am. Marchers will also be in Esperance at 1:30pm.
Both parades will be followed by ceremonies.

WORCESTER
In the neighboring Otsego County Town of Worcester, marchers and band members will gather at Worcester Central School at 9:30am for the 10am parade.
In the event of rain, the program will be moved inside.
The line of march is down Main Street to Cook Street and then Maple Grove Cemetery for a brief program.
The march will then continue to the Veterans' Memorial on Main Street for the placing of wreaths, music, and a rifle salute.
