Clambake $ for CRH

Good food translated into good fundraising for Cobleskill Regional Hospital Friday night.
A clambake at Grapevine Farms raised funds for the renovation of the hospital’s Emergency Department, which is expected to be finished late this summer.
Clams, barbecued chicken, corn on the cob and more were part of the meal, and guests had plenty of time to visit and socialize.
Grapevine Farms owners Tim and Tracy Purcell hosted the clambake, and as a result, they’ll be making a $4,000 donation to the hospital project.
Hospital President and CEO brought the crowd up to date on the Emergency Department progress. Work started last fall, and when finished, the ED will be larger, more convenient for patients and more efficient for staff.
Meanwhile, the hospital hasn’t missed a day of emergency services.
The ED, Mr. Stein said, will be “back to business better than ever because this Emergency Department renovation has given us a facility like we have not had before.”
The project costs $6 million, with $1 million being raised through local fundraising––like the clambake. The local drive is almost halfway to its goal.
“One more remarkable feature of this project is the way our community comes together, time and again, to support the hospital,” Mr. Stein said.
Anne Myers and Sam Shevat of the fundraising committee organized the clambake, and Ms. Myers told the crowd that the event doesn’t mark the end of fundraising.
“Do more than you think you can. You’ll appreciate it,” Dr. Myers said.
Mr. Stein also introduced SUNY Cobleskill’s new president, Marion Terenzio, who pointed to the important link between the college and the hospital.
Grapevine Farms owners Tim and Tracy Purcell hosted the clambake.
Clambake sponsors were Barber’s Farm, SUNY Cobleskill Culinary Arts, American Hotel, Beekman 1802, Chester and Nancy Burton, Herkimer Diamond Mines, McCarthy Builders, Morris-Switzer Architects, Renee and Sam Shevat, Anne Myers and Guy Garrett and Royal Metals.
