Capital Region BOCES is offering new courses during the 2015-16 school year for adult students, including:
• Residential electrical for adult students. Students in this class will apply practical skills and increase knowledge of electrical work to learn the basic fundamentals necessary for wiring a home.
• Floral design for adult students. The new Floral Design class offers students a comprehensive training in basic floral design. Students will learn and apply practical skills and increase knowledge of the floral industry, including care of flowers, designing corsages, arrangements and specialty pieces.
• Forklift operator training. The Forklift Operator Training Course provides adult students with the classroom and hands-on training necessary to earn an operator permit card as required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
The floral design and residential electric classes are 100 hours each and are being offered at the Albany campus of the Career and Technical school. The six-hour forklift operator class is being offered at the Schoharie CTE.
The new classes are being added to an already popular array of adult education classes that includes welding certification; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and English for speakers of other languages.
