T-J back with Football Challenge

9/9/2015

After an extended layoff, the Times-Journal Football Challenge is back.
The Challenge has T-J readers pick the winners of pro and college games for a chance to win $100 every week.
The Challenge starts in this issue.
"It's been a loooong halftime for the contest," said T-J Publisher Jim Poole. "We're glad to bring the Challenge back for football fans."
Mr. Poole started the Challenge when he was the editor in the mid-d80s, and it ran every week in the fall until about 2005.
The Challenge features 15 games, 10 pro and five college. Players pick the winners of each plus the total points of the 15th game as a tiebreaker.
The player with the best record for the week wins $25. If a player picks all 15 games correctly, he wins $100; if two or more players are perfect, they split the $100.
"It's pretty much what we did before, and people had fun with it," Mr. Poole said. "That's what it's all about."
One advertiser sponsors the Challenge each week. Pizza Shack is this week's sponsor.
Players must get their entry slips to the T-J office, either dropping off or mailing, by 9am Saturday.
They can also email their entries to tjournalnews@yahoo.com.
This week's Challenge is on page 22.
