Last services Sunday for three United Methodist Churches
9/23/2015 |
After unsuccessful battles with the Upper New York Conference to save their churches, the Dorloo, Hyndsville, and Mineral Springs United Methodist Churches will hold their final services Sunday.
Dorloo's last service in the 163 year-old church will be at 7:30am.
In Hyndsville, a coffee hour will follow the final 9:30am service, wrapping up 144 years.
In between, the Mineral Springs UMC will go out quietly with one last service there Sunday at 8:30am.
The three churches plus the Warnerville UMC were notified by the Conference in June that they were no longer considered "viable" and would be "discontinued."
After a series of vocal meetings, Warnerville and Hyndsville were offered reprieves.
Warnerville is now working to meet a list of goals and objectives established by the Conference.
Hyndsville, fearing those at-the-time-unnamed goals would be unachievable, is exploring other options, as is Dorloo.
All are welcome at Sunday's final services.
