Jefferson man charged in murder

A Jefferson man has been charged with murdering another Jefferson man during a dispute Thursday.
Jack S. Macaluso, 60, was charged with second-degree murder, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the Princetown State Police.
During the early morning Thursday, the Cobleskill State Police responded to Westkill Road in Jefferson for a reported shooting at Mr. Macaluso's home.
An investigation revealed that Mr. Macaluso allegedly shot the victim, Dale C. McGregor, 43, also of Jefferson, with a long gun during a dispute. Mr. McGregor died of his injuries, police said.
Little information has been made available on the shooting which occurred during an argument, reported public information officer Trooper Mark Cepiel on Monday morning.
"They knew each other," he said of Mr. McGregor and Mr. Macaluso.
Mr. Macaluso was arraigned in the Town of Jefferson Court and sent to jail on no bail, police added.
An investigation is continuing.
Schoharie County District Attorney James Sacket was consulted before the arrest and additional charges may be lodged, according to Trooper Cepiel.
