Conesville gets state grant for truck

State Senator JamesL. Seward has announced that a $195,000 state grant he secured will be used for the purchase of a multi-purpose truck for the Town of Conesville.
"When you get right down to it, the first priority of a public official is the safety of those he represents," said Senator Seward.
"This grant will mean that the Town of Conesville Highway Department will be properly equipped to maintain local highways and help ensure the safety of the motoring public and town employees."
The funding secured by Senator Seward will be used to purchase a multi-purpose truck to replace a 1992 dump truck with 144,000 miles.
Town of Conesville Supervisor William Federice said, "The Town of Conesville has been seeking funds for some time to purchase this much needed highway truck without overwhelming our budget.
Senator Seward's assistance is key to providing our highway department with the equipment they need to maintain town roads while keeping property taxes in check."
The Conesville Highway Department maintains 37 miles of town roads and during the winter, plows and sands an additional 13 miles of Schoharie County roads.
