Another person has been arrested in connection with the theft of $47,000 in jewelry in September.
A Worcester man has been arrested as an accomplice in the theft in the Town of Cobleskill. Three people were arrested in connection with the burglary earlier this month.
On Friday, October 16, the Cobleskill State Police arrested Cody White, 19, of the Town of Worcester on charges of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, according to Investigator Dan Stevens.
On October 5, Mr. White allegedly turned in jewelry that had been stolen from the home in the Town of Cobleskill to a jewelry store at Rotterdam Square Mall, Investigator Stevens said.
Mr. White was issued an appearance ticket to return to the Town of Richmondville Court on October 28, Investigator Stevens said.
No further jewelry has been recovered but the investigation is continuing, he added.
In addition to Mr. White, one person who was working in the home, and two other accomplices have been arrested by the State Police in connection with the theft of the jewelry.
Alfred K. Hill Jr., 37, was arrested on charges of two counts of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony. He was arraigned in the Rotterdam Court and sent to Schenectady County Jail in lieu of bail, police said.
Tammy J. Lord, 38, was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary, a felony, according to police. She was arraigned in Cobleskill Town Court and was remanded to the custody of the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office in lieu of bail.
Her husband, Tracy A. Lord, 43, has been arrested on charges of one count of third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, police added. He was arraigned in the Town of Worcester Court and sent to Otsego County Jail in lieu of bail.
More charges and arrests are possible and the police are continuing to seek the remainder of the jewelry, Investigator Stevens said.
"The name of the game is to recover as much as we can."
He hopes that the arrests, the charges, and the recovery of the items will bring some closure to the family.
He said he was "cautiously optimistic" that there would be more charges and arrests and more jewelry will be recovered.
Some of the stolen jewelry has been recovered in Rotterdam, but the victim, who is not being identified, said that police have recovered less than 10 percent of what was stolen.
According to the victim, people had been hired to work in her home and the woman asked to use the bathroom, to which the homeowner agreed.
The victim believes that the worker checked out the home prior to the theft.
Luckily, the victim was able to make a list of what was stolen. The break-in, she said, was on a Thursday, and by the following Monday, she had lists of what was taken to major pawnbrokers and coin shops in the Capital District.
