T-J launching mobile-friendly website

When the Times-Journal posts its online edition next Wednesday, it'll have a new look-and it'll be a lot easier to look at.
Since July, Editor Patsy Nicosia has been working with Robert Hemstrought of MVINTECH, the company that designed the T-J's original website in 2007, to make it easier to use on phones, tablets, and other mobile devices.
The end result, which will launch December 16, is a website that's mobile-friendly.
"I initially reached out to Robert hoping he could update the look of the site," Ms. Nicosia explained. "He's the one who suggested it was a also a good time to make it mobile-friendly and we agreed."
Mobile-friendly means the T-J website has been redesigned to fit better on the smaller screens of smart phones and tablets.
It will also load faster and be easier to use-and easier to find with search engines like Google.
It also has an updated, cleaner look and even those who look at the site on laptop or desktop computers will notice the changes.
"The Times-Journal will always be a newspaper, but we also want to give people options for getting their local news," said T-J Publisher Jim Poole.
"Technology has changed a lot since we added the website and we're excited to be changing with it."
T-J subscribers can sign up for a free online subscription in addition to-or instead of-their paper newspaper.
