Fishing derbies to take to ice

With colder weather comes ice-and ice fishing derbies.
Sportsmen's clubs and SUNY Cobleskill have set four ice fishing derbies for the Franklinton Vlaie and Bear Gulch Reservoir.
There will also be a derby at Thompson's Lake in East Berne.
The Schoharie County derbies will be held from 8am-1pm:
--February 6, Franklinton Vlaie, sponsored by the Schoharie County Conservation Association.
--February 13, Franklinton Vlaie, sponsored by the West Fulton Rod & Gun Club.
--February 20, Bear Gulch, sponsored by the Richmondville Fish & Game Club.
--February 27, Franklinton Vlaie, sponsored by SUNY Cobleskill.
The Vlaie is located four miles south of Middleburgh on Route 145.
Food and minnows will be available on the ice.
Kids under 12 are free; trophies and prizes.

New York State Parks and Recreation will host an ice fishing derby at Thompson's Lake in East Berne February 6 with registration from 5:30-9am.
Fishing and fish measurement will be from 6am-1pm.
Registration fee of $15 includes food and refreshments; the fee will all go for cash prizes for the largest perch, pickerel and trout.
Prizes will be awarded at 1pm.
Bring your own skates and snowshoes if you want.
