Applications are now available and being accepted for the Schoharie County Microenterprise Grant Program (SCMGP).
Schoharie County was awarded funding through the 2015 Consolidated Funding Application- New York State Community development Block Grant (NYS CDBG) Micro-enterprise Program.
The objective of the SCMGP is to fuel the expansion of existing microenterprises and assist in the development of new micro-enterprises within the county.
The county is working with the Planning and Development Agency's Shane Nickle and Lillian Bruno and the Industrial Development Agency's Ronald Filmer and Dolores Jackson on the project.
SCMGP has established $186,400 in grant funding available to businesses with five or fewer employees, including all owners located within the county.
Eligible businesses can request from $5,000-$35,000 in funding.
Funds must be utilized for working capital, inventory, and machinery/equipment.
Interior /exterior renovation, construction, and acquisition of land are examples of ineligible uses of funding.
Businesses awarded funding under this program will be required to contribute a minimum of a 10 percent cash match to the total project request, participate in and successfully complete a Entrepreneurial Training Program provided by the Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce, and be owned by a low-to-moderate income person or agree to hire at least one full-time equivalent low-to-moderate income person.
Applications for grant assistance for the SCMGP must be hand delivered or postmarked by 5pm on Friday, March 25, to the Schoharie County Industrial Development Agency (SCIDA) offices at 349 Mineral Springs Road, Cobleskill, New York 12043.
