Dr. Marion Terenzio will be inaugurated on April 8, as SUNY Cobleskill's 12th president, the first woman to hold that office.
The Inauguration, to be held during the College's Centennial year, marks the beginning of SUNY Cobleskill's second century.
Dr. Terenzio has hit the ground running since taking on the role of president in July, supporting the expansion of unique degree programs, embracing SUNY Cobleskill's role in driving SUNY's systemness, and cultivating partnerships within the local community," said SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher.
"I am proud to celebrate her inauguration and look forward to our continued work together."
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Terenzio was vice president for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Bloomfield College in New Jersey, and professor at The Sage Colleges in New York, where she also served as vice president for Campus Life.
She has received numerous awards for her work emphasizing the critical role of higher education as a partner and economic driver in communities.
Dr. Terenzio has served on national, regional and state association boards, councils and task forces, and presented and published on the effective role of the arts in community well-being and economic revitalization.
"SUNY Cobleskill has a strong tradition of excellence over 100 years of service to students, faculty, and staff as well as the community, and Dr. Terenzio is precisely the right president to lead the campus as it begins its next 100 years," said SUNY Board Chairman H. Carl McCall.
"On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the entire SUNY family, I am pleased to welcome Dr. Terenzio on this occasion of her official installment as president of SUNY Cobleskill."
Dr. Terenzio received an AB in music from Vassar College, a MA in music therapy from Texas Women's University, a MA in community psychology from The Sage Colleges and a Ph.D. in community psychology from Michigan State University.
